Dwight Rodgers
Dwight (“DG”) Rodgers is a member in the firm. Since being admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1998, he has practiced in various areas of litigation. DG began his career as an associate attorney in Greensboro, practicing in the area of family law. There, he provided litigation support in areas of equitable distribution, spousal and child support, and custody cases.
In April, 2000 he received an appointment as Assistant District Attorney for the 14th Judicial District in Durham, where he worked until coming to our firm. His experience includes literally hundreds of bench and jury trials in the District and Superior Courts of North Carolina, and he is admitted to practice in the US District Court for the Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina. In addition to trial work, DG has briefed cases to and presented oral arguments before the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He also has extensive experience with alternative dispute resolution that includes representing clients in mediations and arbitrations. He has presented seminars to insurance clients on topics of claims handling and litigation in North Carolina.
Born in Madisonville, Kentucky and raised in Kentucky and in Little Rock, Arkansas, DG received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Kentucky. He then graduated from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center’s Russian School and served as a decorated non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps. After separating from the Army with an honorable discharge, he received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Nebraska College of Law. In law school he was a member of the Allen Moot Court Board and the International Law Moot Court Team.
In addition to practicing law, DG enjoys mountaineering, playing guitar, travel and spending time with his family. His wife, Stephanie, is a bankruptcy attorney in Chapel Hill. They have one son.
