Kristen Harris
Prior to moving to the Triangle and joining our firm in 2006, Kristen Harris focused her practice in the area of insurance defense law in Winston-Salem representing clients in a wide variety of general liability matters including motor vehicle negligence, premises liability, products liability and construction liability. Kristen’s experience includes all aspects of the litigation process from evaluating a claim to mediation to trial. Kristen has tried numerous cases across the state and obtained favorable jury verdicts for her clients in both District and Superior state courts. Through alternative dispute resolution, she has successfully arbitrated and mediated cases. Kristen has participated in out of state seminars instructing clients on North Carolina law and other general liability matters. She is a member of the Wake County Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association and admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Kristen graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2003. While at Wake Forest, Kristen was a member of the Moot Court Board and an Executive Editor of the Intellectual Property Law Journal. She received an honorable mention in the Stanley Moot Court Competition and was a mentor and member of the Women in Law Society. During law school, Kristen clerked for the Honorable Judson D. Deramus, Jr., Senior Resident Superior Court Judge of Forsyth County, and was a summer associate at Allman, Spry, Leggett & Crumpler, P.A. and Comerford & Britt, L.L.P.
Born in Framingham, Massachusetts and raised in Winston-Salem, Kristen graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Women’s Studies. While at UNC, Kristen was a member of the Campus Y and a volunteer with the early childhood education organization Head Start.
After graduating from UNC and prior to attending law school, Kristen attended the Radcliffe Publishing Course in Cambridge, Massachusetts and worked in the book publishing industry in New York City. She worked in the editorial department for three imprints of Simon & Schuster focusing on both commercial and literary fiction and non-fiction acquisitions.
In her free time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, visiting Topsail Island, and watching ACC Sports.
